Journey Looks Bright Stayer

Lightly raced NZ bred Darci Brahma 4yo About The Journey put the writing on the wall this campaign with some great runs leading up to his staying races and it was great over the Queen's Birthday weekend that he saluted at Mornington which was the city meeting for the weekend. Ridden perfectly by Craig Newitt the horse settled just off the pace and swooped on the bend to power away through the wet going to win softly by 2 lengths.

"As a 3yo he ran 3rd in the St Leger in a very good race and won his maiden over 2100m by 12 lengths so we identified then he would be a very good wet tracker and he has matured into a lovely horse and finally delivering the promise he has shown from day one which is great for connections. It was a great confident ride by Craig Newitt who has ridden some big winners for the stable this year which was pleasing " stated trainer Peter Gelagotis.   The horse will be kept to staying races now through the winter where he will be expected to keep performing and be around the mark from 2000-3000m where he will excel which is typical of the NZ bred stayers.
